Sandpits - South East Coast
Sandpits
Sandpits is at the Southern end of South Arm, passed Clifton, passed goats, and about 800m passed the Wedge (surf spot). Basically the last stretch of beach at South Arm, before you get to the Derwent River Mouth, and just before you enter the residential strip at South Arm proper.
Works best on strong westerly wind, and West South West wind with an incoming tide as the sand banks can be shallow and the waves jack up quick, actually it's better at higher tides but come to think of it the waves always jack up quick, it can be fun and interesting. Swell with any South gets in quick, and can get big fast. Good fun place to sail but needs particular conditions
